Armchair BEA - Hello
I would LOVE to go the Book Expo America in NYC. It just never seems to be due to the time of year. I can't go anywhere during the first two weeks of the month. The joys of working! At any rate, I am very excited to be participating in Armchair BEA for the first time.
Today we are asked to introduce ourselves. So....here we go!
Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
Where do you start with that question? I wear a lot of different hats...I am a mother of 3, a wife, director of accounting for a health care system, school advisor committee member, reviewer for Outnumbered 3 to 1 blog, book blogger, scrapbook blogger (this one get very little attention), sports mom....basically spread way to thin and wish I had "wife" to do everything I don't have time to do (including getting the kids on the bus in the morning!!).
I have been blogging for about two years. I really struggled my first year. I wanted to do so much more and just didn't have the time. Not that I have the time now, but have accepted that I can only do so much and even though I would love to blog full-time, it won't pay the bills or make sure my kids homework is done!
Why did I get into blogging - I really loved Bookworm With a View and Mari was SO helpful in giving me advice and suggestions. I still consider her a dear blogger friend and look forward to her posts (and emails). She is such an anchored person and "has it all" in my mind. We are in two different places in our lives, but are still able to connect. She is just so awesome. Thanks Mari!
What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?
I am currently reading Sea Change by Karen White. I have about 100 pages left and can't wait to finish it! I am listening to Heart of the Matter by Emily Griffin and really enjoying it. On my Kindle...Fifty Shades of Grey. I can't seem to get past chapter one. I really can't wait to read it, I just seem to pick up my books over my Kindle!
Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.
I love sports, especially all of my kids sports. My son is involved in several different sports and a lot of travel teams. My twins are involved sports and dance. I just love watching them performing.
I love to knit and scrapbook. Again, if I could only have a "wife" to take care all my other duties.
My dream is to win the lotto, buy a house by the ocean and open a quaint little book store called - Seaside Book Nook! Connected to that would be yarn store called - Seaside Yarns. Connected to that would be a scrapbook store called - Peace, Love and Scrapbooking! I would love it and given I won the lotto, I could afford to just have fun and not have to worry about making a profit!
What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?
This is so easy - I LOVE giveaways for my followers and wish I could find a sponsor to defer the costs. My favorite thing is when authors and publishers offer me a giveaway for my followers.
Where do you see your blog in five years?
In five years.....I would like Seaside Book Nook blog to have a handful of other reviewers so posts could be more frequent, a sponsor or two to host giveaways, publishers and authors asking me to read their books and write reviews.
Anyone out their interested in writing reviews on the blog? Email me at seasidebooknook at yahoo dot com!
Which is your favorite post that you have written that you want everyone to read?
All of them!
If you could eat dinner with any author or character, who would it be and why?
What a great question. I would actually need to have a dinner party because I just couldn't have dinner with one! Rebecca Bloomberg, Sophie Kinsella, Miri (Magic in Manhattan series), Sarah Mlynowski, Stephanie Plum (including Lulu, Ranger and Grandma Mazer), Janet Evanovich, Melissa Fuller, Mia Thermopolis, and Meg Cabot. I know that I am missing a ton of others, but this would be chick-lit party! I think this would be one crazy dinner party and I am sure I would be laughing all night. I can't get enough of my chick-lit pals!
What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?
I love London and NYC as well as books that take place there. Both cities have so much to offer. I would love to relocate to London for a few years. Could you imagine. The experience and place my family and I could explorer. One can dream, right?
****************************************
I would love for you to answer any and all of the questions above! Have a great week!

I can't believe you have ANY time to blog with all you do for your family!!! I have a lot of friends with kids in travel teams and those are just killer!! Multiple kids, many places, yikes!!!
ReplyDeleteI really wish I had time to scrapbook!! That was the hobby that fell behind this one. Now that I've discovered digital scrapbooking, I possibly could get back to it someday. I just need to finish working on my blog... it's such a work in progress right now!!!
Oh, don't forget to turn off your captcha this week ~ you'll get more comments that way ;)
I would definitely open a bookstore or even just work in one if I won the lotto.
ReplyDeleteI love the names of your stores-to-be. I'd definitely shop at all of them.
You have the perfect name for a book store!
ReplyDeleteMy mom does digital scrapbooking (and design). I've just recently started managing her blog a bit. I see yours is "real" crafts. I want to be craftier...I used to love doing all of that type stuff!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to open a bookstore! Where I live there isn't a store. Love the dream name of yours!
I love to scrapbook too! It's been a long while since I've been able to get my stuff out due to being in "home limbo" for 1.5 years & just getting settled into a place of our own after an 800 mile move. I'm glad you joined ABEA! Tattooed Books
ReplyDeletewow you're so busy. If I had so many things on my plate I definitely don't think I'd have the time to read and blog at all. I'd love to move to London. It's such an amazing city and there're so many things to do there. I studied abroad there for 2 months and loved it!
ReplyDeleteNing @ Reading by Kindle Fire
So your a super mom :-) Obviously you enjoy being busy.
ReplyDeleteI prefer reading on my Kindle, so those reads are far more than a book.
Oh my goodness~ You have so many hats to wear! Cool! *looks up in awe* I cringe at 50 shades probably because I'm still a baby but whatever xD Happy Armchair BEA to you!
ReplyDeleteMy Introduction
Guaranteed we would visit your book store! If you do get a chance to lunch with Stephanie, Ranger, Lula and Grandma Mazur, let us know. Shel and I would love to have the same experience. Except, in my case, sub Morelli for Ranger :-)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you juggle a lot of blogs! I'd love to open my own bookstore too--that's a nice dream. :) It's lovely to meet you and I hope you have fun during Armchair BEA.
ReplyDeleteI would love to own a book/yarn/coffee shop myself....at the beach or in the mountains.....sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI would love to open a bookstore, especially one by the sea. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI can so relate to being a travel mom - when I tell people my kids schedule and our weekend schedule, their eyes bug out! But I'm glad you find some you time - so important!
ReplyDeleteI agree! A dinner with the Plum family (and friends) would be a good one!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great Armchair BEA week!
Amanda
Jill, Thank you so much for mentioning me, I'm beyond honored. I love that I have made some wonderful friendships through the MM's and blogging. It's safe to day I consider you a good friend who I can talk to, someone I want to support and get support back. I just wish we lived closer... Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to get my hands on a copy of Giffin's new book at BEA. I love her books, good fun! I have been in the mood for summer reading, loads of chick lit. I also can't wait to read McKay's new novel and Forgotten by McKenzie (fall 2012).
