From Runway to Love

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon): From bestselling romantic comedy author Melissa Baldwin comes the final installment in the Love in the City Series!

Living the dream life as a model in New York City used to be enough for gorgeous Olivia Fulton. Now even the fame isn't enough to bring her out of her funk. A series of events bring Olivia face to face with the regrets of her past. Add in the collapse of her three-year relationship and reconnecting with long-lost friends, and Olivia may finally be able to learn--the hard way of course--that everything she thought was important really isn't.

A surprising love interest begins to teach Olivia about the person she truly wants to be. However, this is not compatible with her current life, and in order to be that person, Olivia may have to give up everything she's worked for. Torn between terror and exhilaration, Olivia must now decide if she's capable of this type of change. Will she even be able to open her heart to love again?

One (or more) Sentence Summary: The 3rd book in Love in the City series didn't let me down.  I have like Olivia from the very beginning and now it is her time to shine (she is so use to being in the spot light)!  I really enjoyed how the story (and love) developed between her and Colin.  Olivia comes face to face with what she wants out of life by reflecting where she has been.  Colin is going through similar reflections and together they find their way.  It isn't an easy journey for Olivia or Colin, but she comes out as a star and he comes out pretty darn well too!

Of course all three girls are in From Runway to Love. You don't need to read the first two, but they are so good, I recommend you do!

Would I Read Other Books by the Author: I would like to read the Broadway series and Summer of Seasons series next.

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon): From bestselling romantic comedy author Melissa Baldwin comes the second installment in the Love in the City Series!

CJ Evans has worked hard to overcome many of the devastating challenges that life has thrown at her, and she has come a long way. Despite the aftermath of her broken engagement and the strained relationship with her mother, she has recently mended lost friendships and has become a successful entrepreneur of a business she is truly passionate about. But could all of this progress be lost when her mother presents her with a blindside she never would have expected?

CJ realizes she can no longer avoid her past, and she must finally face the heartbreak, inadequacy, and unresolved events to continue to move forward. This includes embarking on a new career path and opening her heart to a love she's always been hoping for.

CJ's journey is one of growth, trust, and taking risks. And in the end she may realize that to be truly happy--all you need is love.

One (or more) Sentence Summary: I was so happy to get to ready book 2 of the Love in the City series.  CJ was not my favorite of the three characters from the first book, On the Road to Love, but I loved her in All You Need Is Love.  We really get to know CJ and what makes her tic.  All I can say, is goodness....we find out a lot and it is not what I would have ever pieced together.  It is pure craziness.  I don't know how she deals with her mother!!  I also love who she ends up with (no clue here).

Loved how the three girls are still featured in book 2 and how it is stands on its own too.  All You Need Is Love is a quick and fun read.

Would I Read Other Books by the Author: Can't wait to read book 3 in the Love in the City series.

The Kennedy Debutante

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon): A captivating novel following the exploits of Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy, the forgotten and rebellious daughter of one of America's greatest political dynasties.

London, 1938. The effervescent "It girl" of London society since her father was named the ambassador, Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy moves in rarified circles, rubbing satin-covered elbows with some of the 20th century's most powerful figures. Eager to escape the watchful eye of her strict mother, Rose, the antics of her older brothers, Jack and Joe, and the erratic behavior of her sister Rosemary, Kick is ready to strike out on her own and is soon swept off her feet by Billy Hartington, the future Duke of Devonshire.

But their love is forbidden, as Kick's devout Catholic family and Billy's staunchly Protestant one would never approve their match. When war breaks like a tidal wave across her world, Billy is ripped from her arms as the Kennedys are forced to return to the States. Kick gets work as a journalist and joins the Red Cross to get back to England, where she will have to decide where her true loyalties lie--with family or with love . . .

One (or more) Sentence Summary: I loved the Kennedy Debutante.  It seems there is so much that is written about (and even learn about it in school) the Kennedy boys, but I hate to admit it, I never really thought about the Kennedy girls and don't believe I knew anything about Kick. I absolutely loved her spirit.

The book starts out with Kick being introduced to the London society, where her father is stationed as the US ambassador of UK.  The book takes us through Kick falling in love, struggling with the religion differences between herself and her boyfriend, her career as a writer, the war, the lost of her older brother, the struggles with her sister Rose Mary, her strained relationship with her mother and much more.

I love the time period of the book.  It reminds me of the Crown, which is a great show.  I am so happy I learned about Kick.  I think she was a lady before her time.  She had so much spirit.

Would I Read Other Books by the Author: I would be interested in read Kerri's next book. I really liked her writing style and found The Kennedy Debutante to be very interesting.

Absolutely Proof - Audiobook Review

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon): Investigative reporter Ross Hunter nearly didn't answer the phone call that would change his life - and possibly the world - forever.

"I'd just like to assure you I'm not a nutcase, Mr Hunter. My name is Dr Harry F. Cook. I know this is going to sound strange, but I've recently been given absolute proof of God's existence - and I've been advised there is a writer, a respected journalist called Ross Hunter, who could help me to get taken seriously."
What would it take to prove the existence of God? And what would be the consequences?
These questions and their answers lie at the heart of Absolute Proof, an international thriller from best-selling author Peter James.
The false faith of a billionaire evangelist, the life's work of a famous atheist, and the credibility of each of the world's major religions are all under threat. If Ross Hunter can survive long enough to present the evidence...

One (or more) Sentence Summary: Absolute Proof was a great read with lost of twists and turns.  Peter James' Absolute Proof is combination of Sidney Sheldon (dating myself), James Peterson and Dan Brown.

There is a lot going on in Absolute Proof, but I felt it kept it exciting and made me want to listen to another chapter.  There are also a lot of characters and I was able to keep them all straight.  I think it was easy to keep them and their story all separate because their background was so well written.

The book starts with Ross (the main character) nursing a hang over.  He goes into the hotel's gym and while working out, has a vision of his twin brother Ricky, dying.  The experience was so intense that Ross thought he was actually dead.

After the funeral, Dr. Cook contacts Ross to tell him he has proof that God exists.  Ross is reluctant to work with Dr. Cook, but he has a message from his brother Ricky.  Ross agrees to work with Dr. Cook, who ends up dead.  Ross continues to work with the clues Dr. Cook gave him before dying and ends up being in a lot of danger.  There are a lot of people who want the proof that God exists.  As the plot thickens and Ross puts himself in more danger we get to experience his journey in finding out if God does exists.

Absolute Proof is not a quick read, but is a good book with lots of characters, sub stories, and a thrilling plot.

Would I Read Other Books by the Author: Peter James' Roy Grace Series looks really good and I would like to read the series.

Once Upon a Christmas

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon): Is it ever too late for happily ever after...?

Callahan is one of the hottest guys to move into Harper’s Corner in a long time, partly because he’s also a complete mystery.

He keeps to himself and leads a quiet life, rumors swirl around that he used to be in the military...but no one knows where he came from, or what brought him to their small town.

When Stevie’s parents have a health crisis, she’s forced to take leave from her very New York existence: including a high-powered job at a big publishing house and explosive sex life with her wealthy, handsome and appropriately pretentious boyfriend, to step in and ensure the preservation of the family’s longstanding bookstore.

With the first order of business being to fire Callahan, the unqualified shop assistant her dad hired.

Though as many women from Harper’s Corner can tell you, things change when you come back home.

So firing this attractive, brooding, secretive man turns out to be much harder than she originally planned…

And when his past comes back to challenge him, he can’t keep hiding from what happened.

I invite you to tuck into another Harper’s Corner story about finding love when you least expect it…once upon a time in a bookstore…

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  We start out with Stevie at couple therapy, by herself....as always! Her boyfriend was the one that suggested they get counseling and has yet to show up to an appointment.  Gable seems to be the perfect boyfriend, except he's not.  Stevie is called back home to run her parent's bookstore while they take a trip to Arizona due to her mother's health.

Stevie leaves NYC and goes back home to Harper's Corner and puts a plan in place to "modernize" the bookstore. She learns her father has hired a "wonderer" to help with the store.  Stevie thinks Cal needs to go, until she realizes she has fallen...hard, for him.

Cal is not looking to settle down and is still running from the ghosts of his past. In walks Stevie and he world is turned upside down.  Both Stevie and Cal try hard not to give into the chemistry between them.  In the end, they can't resit each other.

Once Upon a Christmas is a quick stand-alone read that is perfect this time of year!  As I am writing this post, it just started snowing!

Would I Read Other Books by the Author: I love Christina's The Publicist series.  I also really enjoyed book two in The Harper's Corner series, A Nanny for Christmas.

I’ve worked in publishing for twenty years and I sincerely love books and authors. I started this journey with my own books planning to write just one, and then well – all I can say is the stories kept coming. My original series The Publicist, follows Kate, Mac, Nick, Vivienne and a host of other awesome characters as they make their lives in New York, amidst the chaos that publishing often brings with it.
I am now exploring a fictional small town called Harper’s Corner. This series is so fun, because there are so many characters in this town, from sexy firemen and hot Army guys, to an awesome group of women that I affectionally call “the coven.” These books will explore each of these characters, and their journey to finding the loves of their lives.
I love writing, and I love reading and if I’m not actively writing a book, I’m probably dreaming of what I’ll write next.

The Amendment, TLC Book Tours + Giveaway

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis:  When Lavinia Starkhurst's husband is killed in a freak accident, she takes to the open road and meets a number of strangers, all with struggles of their own. Through these unexpected and occasionally hilarious encounters, Lavinia reflects on her past deeds, both good and bad, explores her two marriages, her roles as caregiver and wife, hoping all the while for self-acceptance and something to give her new life meaning.

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  I really wasn't sure where the story was going to go with The Amendment.  After reading the first chapter, I thought it was going to be focused on a women losing her husband suddenly and marrying his best friend.  Boy was I wrong and pleasantly so!  The Amendment is about Lavinia losing her husband suddenly (got that part right), but I somehow missed in the synopsis the unexpected and hilarious cast of characters she stumbles upon during a trip cross country. I honestly can see myself running into such people.  I am not sure I would have been as trusting as Lavinia!  As she encounters these "unusual" people during her trip, they allow her to reflect on her past life and the roles she played.  By the end, she finds the new meaning of her life without her second husband.

I really did enjoy being on the journey cross country with Lavinia and all reflection of her past.  I do think she was a bit naive and too trusting in today's world, but that made me like her even more.  I didn't realize that there is another book with Lavinia as the main character.  It is Women Within, and I must read it.  Lavinia is hoot (with a history) and I would like to read more about her!

A Love So Sweet

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis: Discover the magic of the Bradens, and fall in love with Addison Cole’s rich and romantic storytelling.
In A LOVE SO SWEET…

Treat Braden wasn’t looking for love when Max Armstrong walked into his Nassau resort, but he saw right through the efficient and capable facade she wore like a shield to the sweet, sensual woman beneath. One magnificent evening together sparked an intense connection, and for the first time in his life Treat wanted more than a casual affair. But something caused Max to turn away, and now, after weeks of unanswered phone calls and longing for the one woman he cannot have, Treat is going back to his family’s ranch to try to finally move on.
A chance encounter brings Treat and Max together again, and it turns into a night of intense passion and honesty. When Max reveals her secret, painful past, Treat vows to do everything within his power to win Max’s heart forever—including helping her finally face her demons head-on.
A Love So Sweet is a Sweet with Heat novel and conveys all of the passion you’d expect to find between two people in love without any graphic scenes or harsh language. If you’re looking for a spicier romance, pick up the steamy edition, Lovers at Heart, Reimagined, written by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Foster. Addison Cole is Melissa’s sweet-romance pen name.

One (or more) Sentence Summary: Wow!  I really, really liked Treat and Max.  Treat is oldest of five and buys resorts  all over the world.  Oh, he is also freakishly tall, handsome and sex as all get out.  Max is a hard working event planner, sexy - but doesn't know it, and is dealing with an incident from her past.  She is happy with her life until she meets Treat.  She realizes what she has been missing, but is still struggling with her past.

With the help of her friends and Treat, she faces her demons (I wasn't expecting the outcome - what a great twist) and slays her dragon.  Treat comforts the demons he has been running from as well and together they realize they can't live without each other.

Steamy, but clean, a sweet romance that isn't to sappy, girl power, hot men, great friends and family, all in a quick read that leaves you wanting more.  I could envision all the books in the series would make a great movie or a mini tv series.
