Porn Money & Wannbe Mummy

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon):  Amazon best-selling author brings you the third book in The Debt & The Doormat series

What is it about turning 30 that sends rational women into a tailspin?

Suddenly going from having all the time in the world, to cringing at the ticking of her biological clock, Poppy is drowning under the strain of trying to get pregnant.

With a dad in the throes of a mid-life crisis, a crazy mother-in-law, and time racing towards Lilly's wedding, will she be able to cope with it all...and give Ryan the baby they so desperately want?

Finally able to inherit her dad's porn money, Jazz can't wait to be rich! She can buy a house in Chelsea, go out partying with her old mates and start living how she deserves.

But with Ollie, Jemima, and Meryl each clawing at their own little piece of her happiness, will she have to leave behind those closest to her in exchange for it?

The real question is, can Poppy and Jazz rescue their own lives before everything gets ruined, or will their own stubbornness destroy the lives they've created?

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  You better believe it...another 5 star-must read book by Laura Barnard! Now that I am at the end of the series, what am I going to do? All three books were a 5 star-must read!

So Poppy and Jazz are once again at it, but now they are a little older and wiser....okay a little older! Jazz comes into her inheritance and Poppy feels the stress to have a baby. We have another bathroom scene that was so funny.....it could only happen to Poppy!

Jazz realizes there is more to life than money and realizes just how much Ollie and Poppy's mom mean to her in her life. Poppy's dad has a mid-life crisis brought on by a health scare.  Even though this is still an extremely funny story, we saw another side to the characters, which made them even more real.

Another must-read book by Laura Barnard! I would recommend the whole set as a great holiday gift for anyone who loves a great book series and loves to laugh!

Would I Read Other Books by the Author: As you know, I am a huge fan!  Below are links to other books by Laura Banard that I have read and reviewed.  I would love to her all her other books.

Want to read:  Love Uncovered (Book 2 of Babes of Brighton Series), Adventurous Proposal, Sex, Snow and Mistletoe, Marrying Mr. Valentine, and Cock & Bull.

The Baby & The Bride

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon):  Poppy and Jazz's lives sound perfect on paper. Jazz has a new baby and Poppy's getting married. But their realities are very different. Poppy must strive to keep her cool new job with crazy hours, while trying to keep Ryan happy. Before she knows it her wedding has got out of control, thanks to her mother, the runners at work are bullying her, her parents are in financial difficulty and she's doubting everything and everyone she ever knew. Meanwhile Jazz is struggling with motherhood, something a credit card won't fix. Why won't this baby give her a break? Will Jazz be able to cope before she loses it? And will Poppy make it down the aisle? Will Ryan even be waiting?

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  Give me another book in this series please......oh, right there is one more!!! I drove to Michigan one night and back home late the next night and laughed the whole 4 plus hours each way listening to The Baby & The Bride.  Another huge hit from Laura Barnard.

Oh, Poppy and Jazz, what trouble you two can get into.  The heirloom engagement ring in the toilet.....I couldn't stop laughing.  Oh, let's not forget the bathroom in the house they were looking to buy and the toilet was overflowing.  The hen parties (yes parties), especially the one at the yoga retreat. The tears were rolling down my face and my side hurt from laughing (making it hard to drive!).  Poppy's mother.....what a hoot!

I can't emphasize this loud enough.....with everything going on in the world today, we all need an escape and a good laugh.  The Debt & The Doormat (book 1) and The Baby & The Bride (book 2) will give you an escape from reality and have your side in a stitch!

In my last review, I wanted Poppy and Jazz to meet up with Tess and Princess Arabella, two characters from author Melanie Summers (the Crown Jewel/A Crazy Royal Love Romatic Comedy Series).  However, I want to add two more characters that should join them.....Becs and Suze from Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series.  A get together in the UK sounds perfect to me (please invite me!!).

Would I Read Other Books by the Author:  Starting book 3 (Porn Money & Wannbe Mummu) in the series now! I have absolutely loved all of Laura's books! Here are some of my reviews The Debt & The Doormat (book 1),  Once Upon A Wish-MasExcess BaggageTequila & Tea Bags, Bagging Alice (review coming soon), and Porn Money & Wannabe Mummy (review coming soon).  I also want to read Love Uncovered (Book 2 of Babes of Brighton Series), Adventurous Proposal, Sex, Snow and Mistletoe, Marrying Mr. Valentine, and Cock & Bull.  As I said before, anything by Laura Barnar - count me in!

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  Another amazing book by Laura Barnard. Love her books.  Bagging Alice didn't let me know down....like a lot of Laura's books they are as funny as they are steamy.  What two great things to put together in a book.

Baggin Alice is book three of the Babes of Brighton series but can be read as a stand-alone too.  I got so carried with Alice and Tom and couldn't put my kindle down.  I love books that can make me laugh out loud and blush in the same chapter.

Alice has her share of bad boyfriends but when her latest one posts pictures on the internet and her roommate ups and leaves, her life becomes even a bigger mess.  In walks Tom, friend of friends, who is in need of a place to live.  The love-hate-love relationship between the two just grows on you.

The first page.....oh my gosh.  I couldn't stop laughing.

The Debt & The Doormat

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon):  Poppy and Jazz have been best friends from the first week of university. Whenever these two get together trouble isn’t far away and things haven’t changed much. When Jazz gets herself into financial trouble Poppy, being a good friend, offers to help. She instead ends up being talked into swapping lives, with Jazz insisting it will be good and help her get over her broken heart.

Poppy is thrown into a new life, full of crazy housemates; there’s fitness freak Izzy, horrendously beautiful bitch Grace and the slightly gorgeous, if not incredibly grumpy Ryan. Quickly, with the help of Jazz, her life is thrown upside down. Madness ensues and her need to please everyone gets her in more trouble than she could ever imagine.

Before she knows it she’s got a fake boyfriend and is hiding so many secrets she’s scared they’ll spill out any minute. With a bullying boss, a sex crazed colleague, a mental mother and three brothers each with their own dramas, life has gotten pretty difficult for Poppy. And all of this would be much easier, if she could just stop falling over.

Will she get her life back to normal before her brother’s upcoming wedding? And will she want to?

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  Give me more of Poppy and Jazz. I loved them and laughed all the way through the book. I love chick lit books but with everything going on in the world, reading a book that makes me escape and laugh is priceless. The Debt & The Doormat did just that for me.

I really relate to Poppy!  Always trying to do the right thing, responsibilities first, fun last.  However, most bizarre things happen to Poppy that had me laughing until my sides hurt.  Two best friends there for each other through thick and thin or wax and glue!

Loved all the characters.....Poppy's family (all brothers and a crazy mom and aunt), Grace, Izzy, and Ryan who share a house with Jazz (but Poppy and Jazz switch places), Poppy's co-workers and boss and Poppy's neighbors (setting a fire - OMG!). Love it so much I have started book 2 - The Baby & The Bride (still loving it and laughing)!

I think Melanie Summers and Laura Barnard should write a book together.  I would love to see Poppy and Jazz met Tessa and Princess Arabella (the Crown Jewel/A Crazy Royal Love RomaticComedy Series).

Would I Read Other Books by the Author:  I have started book 2 - The Baby & The Bride!! I have also read Once Upon A Wish-Mas, Excess Baggage, Tequila & Tea Bags, Bagging Alice (review coming soon), and Porn Money & Wannabe Mummy (review coming soon).  I also want to read Love Uncovered (Book 2 of Babes of Brighton Series), Adventurous Proposal, Sex, Snow and Mistletoe, Marrying Mr. Valentine, and Cock & Bull.  Honestly, anything by Laura Barnar - count me in!

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  LOVED IT!  This is one of the best audiobooks I have listened to in a long time.  I fell in love with Ruby immediately and of course the kids she nannies, Jessica and Charlotte.  Ruby is hilarious and made this story so much fun.  Barclay was pretty funny too.   A modern and wonderful story about a broken family made whole again.  Great characters with great chemistry.

I have to give a shout out to Charlie Emmeline Albers for narrating Once Upon A Wish-mas.  The different voices she used, just made the audio!

If you need a book to get into the holiday spirit or just a really good book-this is one to grab!

Excess Baggage

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon):  Stuck in a dead-end relationship, Erica Bennett finds herself daydreaming of her first holiday romance. She was 15, and it was exciting, new, and full of possibilities...and Jack Lawson was hot as hell. That kind of thing leaves a mark.
So when her friends suggest a girls' holiday to Luna Island, it's exactly what she needs to take her mind off things. What she doesn't expect is to spot Jack - a much older, hotter version of him - across the hotel lobby.
Their attraction is still there, and it isn't long before sparks fly, but 15 years is a long time. They aren't the same people they were back then, and besides, it's only a week, right? Is it a second chance at something real, or will their excess baggage ruin their shot at love after they leave Luna Island?

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  I adored Excess Baggage!  Erica is daydreaming about her a romantic holiday when she was 15 and who happens to be across the lobby? Jack,... from 15 years ago.  We jump right into a very steam pool scene and it just continues to get hotter as the story progresses.

Okay, now that is out of the way, Erica is an absolute hoot.  Everything adventure they go on, she comes out of it with some sort of mishap. Most of the time it involves her bathing suit.  She really made the book very funny.  I can't imagine all thing that happened to her every time she step out to have fun.  She just rolled with it. I am seeing a lot of white bathing suits in the stores this year and I just find myself laughing as I think of Erica. She is too funny.

What will become of Erica and Jack after 15 years? What happens when Erica's boyfriend (whom she broke up with over text) shows up on Luna Island with a ring? I can't spoil it for you.

Would I Read Other Books by the Author:  For sure....I would love to read about the girls on vacation with Erica (Brooke is book 2 and Alice is book 3). Laura's story telling and sense of humor reminds me a lot of one of my new favorite authors, MJ Summers (Melanie Summers).  They need to meet and I have to be there!  P.S. Melanie let's meet Laura in the UK, eh?

Laura has a ton of other books that look great and I can't wait to get my hand on them.
  • The Debt & Doormat Series (3 books)
  • Tequila & Tea Bags
  • Dopey Women (should buy it just for the man on the cover)
  • Sex, Snow & Mistletoe
  • One Month Til I Do Series (2 books)
  • Road Trip
  • Heath, Cliffs & Wondering Hearts

Amazon Best Seller Laura Barnard lives in Hertfordshire, UK and writes romantic comedy or 'chick lit' as its so often described. One (or more) Sentence Summary:  Excess Baggage is a really cute romance novel.  I enjoyed  Erica and Jack meeting again after 15 years (sigh).  Erica was a very clumsy and funny character.  Her friends rounded out the cast of characters too.  You will have to read to the very end to find out Jack's secret, but it will be worth it! Enjoyable, quick read!

Would I Read Other Books by the Author: Yes, there are several that I think look really good:Sex, Snow and Mistletoe (cute title!), Dopey Women, and Advent-urous Proposal.

I like wearing yoga clothes and reading fitness magazines while I sit on the sofa and eat chocolate. I'm a real fan of the power nap and of course, READING!

I write not to get rich or famous, but because I LOVE writing. Even if one person tells me they enjoyed my book it makes the midnight typing worth it!
