Spells and Sleeping Bags by Sarah Mylnowski

Paperback: 320 pages
Publisher: Random House Children's Books
Rating: 4 - Great Read

Synopsis:  At long last, Rachel's powers have arrived and she's a bona fide get-your-broom-ready witch! And it's happened just in time. No Manhattan for her this summer—she's spending her vacation at Camp Wood Lake.
But she's having some serious issues:
Mosquitoes in the Adirondacks are incredibly thirsty.
Her stepmom keeps sending embarrassing feminine hygiene care packages.
She accidentally zapped away all her clothes.
And there's a backstabber in her cabin intent on making life miserable.
Good thing Rachel's a witch.

Why I wanted to read it:  I loved the first two novel in the series, Bras and Broomsticks and Frogs and French Kisses.  Also, Sarah Mylnowski's adult books are great chick lit!  I would have to say this is chick lit for young adults!
Book Cover Rating: 3 out of 5.  I like all of the covers in this series.
Length of Chapters: 4 out of 5. I liked the length of the chapters, not too long!

My Review:
This series is so much fun.  I can't get enough of Rachel and Miri.  Rachel has her powers in this book and the girls are at camp for the summer.  There are lots of twists and turns. The ending is a little weird, but it works.  Great book for both adults and young adults.  It will have you laughing out loud.....by yourself!  You don't have to read the first two in the series, but why not, they are great too!

Have a great week!  It will be extremely busy for me at work and home.

  1. It would be a good idea for parents to read this book as well as the others in this series before their children do. Much of the contents are of "smutty" nature. I found nothing of value to promote the development of good character in children.
