An Invincible Summer

~ I received no compensation and opinions are 100% my own or my family. ~

Synopsis (from Amazon):  An endearing novel of friendship, forgiveness, and second chances by New York Times bestselling author Mariah Stewart.

It was a lifetime ago that recently widowed Maggie Flynn was in Wyndham Beach. Now, on the occasion of her fortieth high school reunion, she returns to her hometown on the Massachusetts coast, picking up right where she left off with dear friends Lydia and Emma. But seeing Brett Crawford again stirs other emotions. Once, they were the town’s golden couple destined for one another. He shared Maggie’s dreams—and eventually, a shattering secret that drove them apart.

Buying her old family home and resettling in Wyndham Beach means a chance to start over for Maggie and her two daughters, but it also means facing her rekindled feelings for her first love and finally confronting—and embracing—the past in ways she never thought possible. Maggie won’t be alone. With her family and friends around her, she can weather this stormy turning point in her life and open her heart to the future. As for that dream shared and lost years ago? If Maggie can forgive herself, it still might come true.

One (or more) Sentence Summary:  What a great book to kick off the summer season! I want to find a beach town just like Wyndham Beach.  Invincible Summer is about going back home to start a new chapter of your life.  After losing her husband, Maggie heads back home to her two best friends for a class reunion.  Little does she know that her old high school sweetheart has moved back as well.

There was a lot going in the book, but it wasn't too much to keep up with.  We learn about Maggie and her past, her daughter whose husband left her for a younger women, her unwed daughter raising a child on her own, Lydia and her daughter who committed suicide, Emma and her rock-roll son and Brett and list of wives.  The book alternated between characters and kept it moving along.

Very enjoyable, relaxing read that kept me engaged.  It was a great start to my summer reading. I really hope there is another book coming because I could make this into a multiple book series….one about each of Maggie's daughters and bring the other characters along.
